Axión has joined, as Partner Organization, to the WaveComBE project led by the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).
WaveComBE is a European project whose objective is to study and guarantee maximum coverage and maximum quality of 5G communications in environments such as sports stadiums, concert halls, shopping centers and other indoor spaces. Thus, the project will investigate new techniques for antenna reorientation and optimization of radio access points. Currently, mobile and Wi-Fi networks have limitations of available bandwidth as well as interference in high density user environments.
In the field of WaveComBE, techniques will be studied to reduce the impact of these limitations on the user experience. WaveComBE will be extended until 2021 and includes pilot measurements and tests in shopping centers, airports and conference halls in Belgium, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Axión, with its participation in this project, seeks actively to advance its position as a provider of neutral shared infrastructure for operators, preparing for the arrival of 5G.
